The bar is open!

The finishing touches have been completed so our newly refurbished bar is now well and truly open!

We’re planning a Club social function in November: keep your eyes and ears peeled for news…!

So after your game why not come upstairs, have a drink and a look around?

Discussions will begin shortly about soft furnishings, time to say goodbye to that carpet!

In case you forget- here is our old bar…..!

Exciting New Rebo Wall

BLTSC are delighted to have the first REBO Wimbledon practice wall in Kent!

Installed in 2016 our REBO Wimbledon wall is located in its own ‘REBO zone’. The area is screened off and located in the middle of our 5 clay courts.

The hitting face is at a nine degree angle, this provides a ball arc that is realistic and will help you to practice like the Pro’s!

Warm up before you play, recover from injury, work on your non-dominant hand- or just try and beat the wall!

Useful tip- start close to the wall with with low compression balls, increase your distance and work up to a full ball.

Quick reminder for members, that courts 11& 12 are out of action for the next two days as trees are being cut back ahead of our resurfacing work in August

Many thanks

REBO Wall

Our REBO wall was installed in 2016 and offers players of all standards a great way to practice.

Its unique angled face means that the ball response from the wall better replicates the 'arc' of playing partner.

BLTSC’s REBO wall has its own enclosed space- our REBO ZONE. Located centrally by our clay courts this new addition to our facilities is proving popular.

From the most experienced player to the complete beginner practicing on a wall means working on the things you want to- at a pace that suits you.
The angled face of the REBO means the ball trajectory replicates that of a hitting partner, unlike traditional flat walls.

In a tennis match you expect to hit about 150 balls per hour… with a ball machine approximately 500 balls per hour…. but against a REBO wall you can hit over 2000 balls per hour using only ONE ball.

Roger Federer hit against wall for countless hours when learning to play. (Federer 1996 – YouTube Video) He acknowledges the wall’s part in helping him become the legend he is today. Federer, Djokovic, Sampras and McEnroe all grew up playing against a wall.
Try it for yourself….  No partner. No problem!

Open finals day 2018

Well played to the class of 2018!

BLTSC’s annual open tournament finals day was another hard fought one! With significant heat a constant feature of the day our finalists played through. Despite the distractions of SW19, all our players were well supported. Play ended in BR2 with a three set thriller mens dubs taking us into the buffet supper. Well played to all our finalists and to all to all of those that participated and lost out in earlier rounds- maybe next year!

Finals day is the centre piece of our tennis calendar- thank you to everyone that made our Open Championship finals day another to remember.

As a members club- it’s our members that make it happen: maybe could you help next year, talk to our Tennis Committee and be part of it!

Tennis Clubmark

BLTC is proud to be one of the first Clubs in Kent to be awarded Tennis Clubmark status. The LTA awards this kitemark to Clubs that meet or exceed national guidelines in 4 key areas

In brief these areas are:

  1. Club Action Planning – BLTC has developed an action plan that has been endorsed by the management committee that keeps our development goals in focus. A business plan will be designed in early 2009
  2. Tennis Programmes – BLTC has a comprehensive year round tennis programme. offering players from age 2 upwards coaching, social, and competitive play
  3. Policies and Procedures – BLTC has stated policies and procedures in the areas of child protection, equality and diversity and health and safety.
  4. Club Management – BLTC is managed and promoted in line with good practice.

A significant amount of work has gone into our accreditation process, and this work continues everyday. Maintaining our Clubmark status is key to our club’s ongoing success and future development.

It falls to every member to make their contribution by ensuring BLTC is a safe environment in which children, young people and those who may be vulnerable, can enjoy their tennis.
